Over time, the reputation and passion for motorbikes has been passed down from generation to generation, reaching Ionel Pascotă, Ilie’s grandson, and Patrick Pascotă, his great-grandson.

The Pascotă family has become synonymous with success and performance in motorcycle racing. Their efforts and exceptional skills have propelled them into the limelight and they are now recognised and appreciated worldwide. Their impressive track record and outstanding achievements have gone beyond Romania’s borders, making them respected and exalted in the world of international motorcycling.

Ilie Pascotă

1916 – 1955

A motorcycling pioneer in his home village. Before the war, in the ’36s, he brought the first motorcycle to his community. Although his initial passion was for mechanics, Ilie began to train in the village lanes and to take part in competitions in Timisoara. However, because of his humble origins, his talent was not immediately recognised by the “good world”.

However, after the war, motorcycling, which Ilie practised out of sheer passion, became a nationally organised activity in Bucharest. With rapid strides, the young motorcyclist gained respect and became a member of the “Locomotiva” Club in Timișoara, where he took over as coach of the “Moto” section.

Ilie Pascotă’s story is one of perseverance and the struggle for recognition in a sport dominated by social privilege. With his passion and talent, he paved the way for future generations of motorcyclists and inspired the development of motorcycling in his community.

He won the title of Republican Champion in 1949.
